Avinash Narula, who has recovered
thousands of rupees from erring
companies, will share what has worked
for him to get “value for
money” from business organizations.
If you have tips to share, we will
also post them here for the benefit
of other unhappy customers. So email
us tips that you may have. Some
tips are as follows:
- It is very important that we have all the facts like dates, time, complaint number and the name of the person spoken to while making a complaint. As such, you must always note down such details.
- Keep alert. As soon as you sense that there could be some problem with the resolution of your complaint, try to record all that has happened till that time in as much detail as possible. Second, from that time onwards keep detailed record of all actions taken by you as well as by the company.
- It is always better to keep things in writing. At the very least, keep as much record in writing from the time you suspect there could be a problem.
- While writing a letter, give your story in proper sequence and logic. Focus on the facts and not on personalities. Sometimes you may have to focus on individuals also.
- Appeal to the executive’s sense of fairness and equity.
- If the problem is not getting resolved, escalate it to a higher level. Don’t be afraid to approach the CEO of the company.
- In all your interaction with the company, be firm about your right to get “value for money.”
- You have to be persistent.

FREE Rs. 23,000 laptop repair
One of Avinash Narula’s most
horrifying experience was when he
bought a laptop from an MNC. The
laptop gave a lot of trouble and
ultimately it just stopped working.
Also, unfortunately it was out of
warranty. Avinash Narula was going
to junk the computer when his family
suggested that they should just
return the computer to the CEO of
the company so that he realizes
what kind of lemon products they
were selling. The idea made sense
and Avinash Narula decided to request
for an appointment with the CEO
of the global computer manufacturer
so that he and his family could
return a “lemon” laptop
to him. It took a little time and
effort but the issue was resolved
to Avinash Narula’s satisfaction.
The computer was repaired free for
which a repair estimate of Rs. 23,000
was given.
